Lazy Blogging

Yes I know I've not make a post for about a week now, but I've been feeling a bit lazy for a couple of days now, so I decided to give blogging a little rest. I'm still feeling lazy, I've just been lazing around for the whole day, hopefully this lazy feeling will go away soon and I get to do something productive.

Despite the lazy feeling I've been doing some work on my website Scenes of Jamaica. I have remodeled the whole site, brand new look with a totally different theme as well as additional features. It's still being worked on but you can take a look at it by clicking here.

Another earthquake in Indonesia! I could not believe it when I heard the news that Indonesia suffered another devastating earthquake, not even two years after the earthquake and tsunami that destroyed the country. Some 3500 lost their lives. My heart goes out to them. This world is getting more dangerous everyday. We too need to brace ourselves for our annual scare, Hurricanes, as the season starts in a few days.

Another unbelievable news I heard! The West Indies team actually won the one-day series between themselves and India! I know you find this hard to believe that the West Indies team actually won something! But it's true, I saw it with my own two eyes! No I wasn't dreaming, because I had my coworker pinch me, and it hurt like hell! I know Ri must have been celebrating the victory. Well lets hope they keep it up.

Just a quick observation: have you ever noticed that the Blogger spell-check does not recognize the words Blog, Blogging and Blogger?

Rain, Rain, Rain!

I woke up early on Thursday morning to the sound of continuous rain drenching the once parched soil. It was not much of a surprise because I received a severe whether text from the week before predicting a cold front and there were a couple of light showers the night before. But I was not prepared for so much rain. The rain was literally poring! And worst of all I had to go work. Ok, so I went to make some breakfast, some scrambled eggs, franks, two slices of brown bread and a hot cup blue mountain coffee. And then took a shower in the hopes that the rain will ease a bit before I head out to work.

No such luck Stunner! The rain continued to poor. So I had to grab a hold of my umbrella and pushed out to my car. Getting to my car dry was a feat, I had to dash though the rain and pulled off a magic trick to close the umbrella and get into the car. But that was not the hard part.

On the road was a mess! Water flowing along the road like raging rivers. I had to make a detour as the bridge that I normally drive on by Upper Waterloo Road was inundated by water and impassable. The alternate routes were not much better as water was flowing along the roadway in every direction. Inches upon inches of water, at one point I was wondering if I was still on a roadway or plunging my car in a river. Nevertheless, I pressed forward with wipers on high and water spraying from the sides of my car to work. Fortunately, I made it to work and not washed down to the sea by the torrents along the roadway. My car wasn't all that fortunate as I a now hearing a funny noise, like a belt or some bearings got some serious wetting. So I will have to get that checked out later this week. I managed to snap a few shots while on the road.

By 11:00 am the sun was out in full force, with almost no evidence of the previous downpour. The weather improved so much that even the test match (Cricket) between India and the West Indies team, that everyone thought would be cancelled, was in full swing. The weather is now back to normal, nice sunny days have taken over once again.

Stunner Recommends

Good Clothes for Less
When you need a pair of jeans on a budget, Maxie's Department Store in Portmore is the place to go! I stumbled on this store in my quest to find a decent pair of jeans some years ago after paying $3000 on a pair of jeans at Lee's (an "uptown" clothing store). And happy I am that I found it! An average pair of jeans now cost me $1200 and as low as $850 on sale! They sell other forms of clothes from various tops to belts, accessories and shoes for men, women and children. But for some reason I don't really like the shirts, I've only bought shirts there on only two occasions. They also have floor that deals with household items. But if you want good pair of jeans for a reasonably low price it's worth the visit.

Comfy Undies
Ok, ok, I know I will be getting a couple of eyebrows for this one. I probably shouldn't be blogging about this, but I had to share the joy. Last year I discovered the beauty of Hanes ComfortSoft® Boxer Briefs. And I must say the name speaks for itself, they are very comfortable underwear! I never knew underwear could be so comfortable, it's as if I was one with my boxer brief. I prefer boxer-briefs because it gives me the freeness of a boxer but it also keeps everything intact, especially when I'm at the gym (on the treadmill for you smutty minded people). So I'm not new to boxer-briefs, but the ComfortSoft boxer-briefs are a whole new level of comfort.

Stove-top Cleaner
I am not a big fan of cleaning, but I man place have to be clean and I can't afford myself much more a helper! So I am stuck with doing the cleaning myself. As a result I'm constantly in search of ways to make cleaning easier. I must admit that sometimes when I cook I'm in a rush, this happens mainly when I'm making breakfast, so the stove gets somewhat messed up. You know how sometimes you wipe the stove but the stubborn grease and dried spills decide to make your efforts seem worthless. So my stove got really messy and hard to clean. That's when my GF suggested that I buy Easy-Off One Step stove top cleaner and I did. This cleaner really worked! If you don't believe me, look at the before and after pictures of my stove. All I had to do was to poor it on the stove top and used a damp kitchen cloth to wipe off the mess. It took little effort to rub off that tough grease and dried spills.

Fantastik!
This product is Fantastik! No I am not spelling incorrectly, that's name of this cleaning agent. It works well for general purpose cleaning in the kitchen and an around the house. It's good for removing grease and hard to remove dirt on most non-porous surfaces. My sis recommended this one to me, when I moved out on my own for the first time. Since then I've been hooked, and frequently use it when I have the strength to do some serious cleaning. I need a new bottle; it has been some time since I bought one.

True Emergency Room Stories

I got this email from one of my co-workers and I decided to share it with you. Seems I am just sharing emails these days. Don't worry I will be posting my original post next time.

Be warned these accounts are of a very graphic descriptive nature which some persons may find disturbing!

"THESE ARE ALL TRUE STORIES, FROM EMERGENCY ROOMS AROUND THE COUNTRY:

FEMALE SOFA----- A 500lb. woman from Illinois was examined in a hospital. During the examination, an asthma inhaler fell from under her armpit, a dime was found under one of her breasts and a remote control was found lodged between the folds of her vulva.

PRICKLY PAIR-----OUCH! In Michigan, a man came into the ER with lacerations to his penis. He complained that his wife had "...a rat in her privates..." which bit him during sex (not the first conclusion I would have drawn, I don't think). After an examination of his wife, it was revealed that she had a surgical needle left inside her after a recent hysterectomy.

PING PONG ANYONE?----- A 20 year old man came into the ER with a stony mass in his rectum. He said that he and his boyfriend were fooling around with concrete mix, when his boyfriend had the idea of pouring the mix into his anus using a funnel (you'd do the same, I'm sure!)?!!. The concrete then hardened, (no shit; Sherlock!), causing constipation and pain. Under general anesthesia, a perfect concrete cast of the man's rectum was removed along with a ping pong ball.

BLIND DRUNK----- A drunk staggered into a Pennsylvania ER complaining of severe pain while trying to remove his contact lenses. He said that they would come out halfway, but they always popped back in. A nurse tried to help using a suction pump, but without success. Finally, a doctor examined him and discovered the man did not have his contact lenses in at all. He had been trying to rip out the membrane of his cornea.

OUCH AND DOUBLE OUCH!----- A couple hobbled into a Washington State emergency room covered in bloody restaurant towels. The man had his hands around his abdomen and the woman had hers around her head. They eventually explained to doctors that they had gone out that evening for a romantic dinner. Overcome with passion, the woman crept under the table to administer oral sex to the man (Classy or what??). While in the act, she had an epileptic fit, which caused her to clamp down on the man's penis and wrench it from side to side. In agony and desperation, the man grabbed a fork and stabbed her in the head until she let go."

I don't know how true these stories are, but hey, there are some crazy people out there!

Check out this blog, it's a Jamaican bother all the way in Japan. He is actually blogging a novel!

Black Magic

An old man and woman were married for years even though they hated each other. When they had a fight, screams and yelling could be heard deep into the night.

A constant statement was heard by the neighbors who feared the man the most... "When I die I will dig my way up and out of the grave to come back and haunt you for the rest of your life!"

They believed he practiced black magic and was responsible for missing cats and dogs, and strange sounds at all hours. He was feared and enjoyed the respect it garnished.

He died abruptly under strange circumstances and the funeral had a closed casket.
After the burial, the wife went straight to the local bar and began to party as if there was no tomorrow.

The gaiety of her actions were becoming extreme while her neighborsapproached in a group to ask these questions:
Are you not afraid? ...Concerned? ...Worried? that this man who practiced black magic and stated when he died he would dig his way up and out of the grave to come back and haunt you for the rest of your life?

The wife put down her drink and said... "Nah... let the old man dig. I had him buried upside down!"

Seems I have writers block! I just don't know what to blog about today so I decided to just post joke I got from one of my coworkers.

Carnival 2006 - Jamaican Style

As I promised in my last post, here are some of the pictures I took of Carnival 2006 in Jamaica. The street parade is divided into two road marches, the Jamaica Carnival road march and the Bachanal Carnival road march. I didn't get much good shots because I was at work. I just took a few minutes to take a few pictures. Anyway, no more chatting, here are the pictures! Enjoy!

Wow! It Has Been A While!

My, my it has certainly been a long time since I have graced blogland with my presence! Well folks have no fear, Stunner is back in full force! I have so much catching up to do and so much to share with you. I don't even know where to start. I guess I'll give you a recap of what has happened during my forced blog break.

Exam Done!
Yeeah! Whoopeeee! At long last my exams have come to an end. One more semester down, two more to go! The past couple of weeks have been a rough one for me. Juggling work and studying is one hard act to maintain! The exams almost lick mi fi six! But I think I have hung on for a modest grade. Now my exams are done and most of my projects too. My book is basically finished, all I have to do now is to print it and hand it in to the lecturer. My exams finished today at 6:00 pm and with that it was time to celebrate and to start releasing the stress. So me and some of my classmates headed out to a little bar to have a few rounds. A few rounds of Cranberry and Vodka and some Rum and Coke certainly put my exam worries behind me. Now I have the next 3 months to have some fun! Ahhh, no school work, no studying...I feel so free!

New Notebook
Remember I told you that my PC crashed? Well I finally decided to part ways with my old somewhat faithful PC and step up inna life with a Lap-top. I got myself a spanking new Dell Inspiron 640m Notebook! It nice yuh si! Beautiful piece of machine. I have named her Lappitappi! I opted for a notebook because I need the mobility, especially since I'm going to school and it saves a lot of space in my extremely small apartment. It costed me two arms, two legs and a piece of torso to get it, but it's worth it. I have decided to sell the remains of my old PC, so at least I will recover some of the money I spent. But the good news doesn't end there! Recall how worried I was that I might have lost all my data? Well, the hard drive is still intact! Yes, I can still recover my files! It seems it was the motherboard that got damaged. So The person who is repairing the PC and selling it for me has copied all my files to a portable hard drive, which I now have in my possession. Now all I have to do is to transfer them and burn them to CDs. Yes people, regular backup schedule for Stunner!

Old Age
I became one year older last month. Yeah, one step closer to old age and retirement. Didn't do much on that day, just lazed around and went to dinner at a nice Chinese restaurant named, Dragon Court. The food there is good, really nice appetizer and nuff food for the main course!

Apart from those three noteworthy events, nothing much has happened since the last time I checked in. So that ends the recap of the activities and events since my absence. Now you can look to to the future, yes, regular crazy posts from the Stunner. What can you expect in my next post? Well, Carnival has come and gone but not without Stunnercam catching a few snaps and the road march! So I will be sharing with you some of the pictures I took in my next post.
